David Beard`s Catfish King in Mount Pleasant

This place has the best salad bar in this area.

Oysters were horrible, catfish was dry. Staff was very inattentive. Salad bar was the best part of our meal sadly. Staff were more worried about horse playing and chatting at the counter than taking orders and getting them out quickly. Usually we have a very good experience all the way around. We were very disappointed this time. Grandmother was excited to get in from west Virginia for her hometown favorite catfish king. But sadly she didn't get the experience she was hoping for.

This place has the best salad bar in this area.

I live in Dallas but east is my roots. Love the fish.

Last time we were here it was excellent, still can’t review food but the people skills are lacking!! We got my elderly mother in on a walker which is a hard job. They stood and watched us get inside and never mentioned the fact that 5 was too many to eat together. Would not let us move a chair so therefore we just left and will never return! Just happened today we had 5 usually have 13 so we won’t bring our business back there

They were running behind taking orders, & I had to wait at in the drive-thru while the person got "caught up" before taking my order. What should have been golden-brown fried catfish was white strips without flavor. This is not typical of Catfish King, but it was definitely a disappointing dinner once you've gotten home, gotten comfy, and opened up the carry-out box. The food is almost always pretty great, but it is definitely important to look inside the box before you drive away from the window.

Great service! Fish and oysters are delicious. Big portions. I would recommend.

Food was good but not great. not alot of seasoning. Price was reasonable. Place was clean. No pitch to you win here. I would go again.

Fish was cold and a bit soggy. Same with the hush puppies. Just not a fan. Wait staff and servers are nice.

Hubby was wanting something different from hamburgers for tacos. He ordered the shrimp and chicken tenders plate and I got the grilled chicken breast dinner with a baked potato. The salad was a little wilted on my plate because the chicken was freshly grilled and tasted so good! Love the lemon pepper seasoning they used! A very nice change from the fast food places in Mt Pleasant, Texas!!!

Great catfish. They have a drive thru which is a PLUS during covid19. Food was hot and fresh. This plate was about $11 (Cajun regular catfish dinner which includes hushpuppies, coleslaw, rice/beans mix and 6 catfish and fries). Will return when I'm back in Mount Pleasant

Fish was more like crust than fish. Come on people put more fish in your product. Not a bunch of batter hello??? Also the hush puppies were hush alright, keep hush that they were rock hard and wayyyy over cooked. It will be a long time coming before I go back. Maybe never. Well at least the beans were good lol

I have never seen such childish behavior in a restaurant. In my hour of eating here there was never any less than 4 employees playing in the salad bar area. Laughing and cutting up not to mention playing in the food instead of doing their jobs. There were 8 tables that were very dirty and none of the employees seemed to notice. While one employee did walk around with the rag. But didn’t seem to notice the food on all empty tables. Totally unexceptable.

Fishing 🐟 is good , but even better eating fish at Catfish King 😋 cooked the way you like it.

Their grilled chicken was good, not dried out. This is not my favorite type of restaurant, not a fan of corn meal fried fish. They refused to allow you to change fried for baked or grilled fish or chicken in the combo meal, that was wrong, as long as they offer baked or grilled fish or chicken on the individual meals they should allow you that options.

Fish and shrimp was good, very small portions of fish and shrimp where they were slivers of fish heavily battered. All you can salid bar made up for it though. Everything fresh and good selection too which came with the $10 meal.

The food was a lot better then the last time I came. I give 4 stars due to a lot of dirty tables and only 1 person cleaning them.

Had theirl fried catfish with cornmeal. It was good, but I would have liked it better if fried a little browned. Fries and Coleslaw were very good also.
